| 3rd Aug. At Tavronitis the first of the migrant Kingfishers arrived - they do not breed here.

| 4th Aug. At Tavronitis. 3 little ringed plovers and 1 squacco heron.

| 7th Aug. At Galatas. 2 steppe buzzards circling with 3 common buzzards.

| 12th Aug. At Aspra Nera. An adult and a juvenile bonnelis eagle circling with a common buzzard.
|
| 14th Aug. At Neo Chorio. A flock of 66 white storks, 63 of which were juvenile circled for hours trying to land between Chania and Kolimbari but everywhere was crowded with tourists. They probably managed to get in to feed and rest after dark.

| 15th Aug. At Tavronitis. 4 little ringed plovers; 1 wood sandpiper at the river mouth.

| 16th Aug. At Nembros. A pair of lesser grey shrikes plus a short toed eagle circling with a common buzzard.
|
| 17th Aug. At Tavronitis. 1 little stint; 1 little ringed plover; 1 kingfisher and 3 broad billed sandpipers of which one was in non breeding plumage and the others juveniles.

| 18th Aug. At Maleme. A pair of marsh harriers. A crane flew in from the sea and headed west along the coast.

| 19th Aug. At Falasarna. Distant views of a bearded vulture. Presumably the very old bird that has lived here alone since it's died 11 years ago.

| 22nd Aug. At Neo Chorio. 2 jackdaws came to feed on green walnuts. A resident but rare species in Crete.

| 23rd Aug. At Tavronitis. 4 little ringed plovers; 1 little stint; an oystercatcher; 1 glossy ibis and a flock of 18 wood sandpipers.
On Rodopos peninsula. A flock of 22 griffon vultures (something had died - we could smell it!); 1 bearded vulture, a five year old bird. Also a juvenile bonellis eagle; a female golden oriole; 2 pairs of ravens and scattered wheaters and wood larks.
At Aspra Nera. A woodchat shrike.

At Polemarchi an adult bonellis eagle.

| 28th Aug. At Neo Chorio. A flock of 1000+ alpine swifts.

| 31st Aug. At Polemarche. A flock of 6 honey buzzards.
At Melame. A flock of 330+ white storks and a flock of 54 glossy ibis.
